Mandela month creates an opportunity for all of us to consider others and what we can do to help those less fortunate than ourselves. A cause very close to Madiba's heart was the plight of children and how education could help alleviate some of their hardships.

Sites where activities such as mining and construction take place need to be mindful of how these activities impact their immediate environment. Things like water, waste and air management, as well as noise pollution and what to do in the event of a spill or contamination all need to be considered and part of the site management plan.


Virtual Reality (VR) uses the latest computer tech to create a simulated environment, placing the user inside the experience, rather than passively viewing it onscreen. Users are completely immersed in the interactive 3D worlds, through the use of special equipment, such as a VR headset. This creates a fun and useful tool to train employees and a safe environment.


Dropped objects are one of the most common causes of injuries and fatalities on construction sites across the world; and also one of the easiest to avoid. 


Men are four times more likely to commit suicide than women,

but are less likely to talk about problems they may be experiencing.

Check in with your buddy at work, it could make all the difference.
